Why I created Shy, and why the name says everything

For everyone who has ever been scared to begin.

The Beginning

If you've been following me, you know I'm obsessed with perfumes.

I had forty bottles of perfume. None of them felt like me.

Too strong. Too generic. Too... something.

So I thought: What if I just made my own?

Then immediately I thought:
That's crazy. You're a content creator, not a perfumer.

But the idea wouldn't leave me alone.

The Name

People always ask about "Shy."

The irony isn't lost on me - I film myself every day, share my life with thousands of people.

But I've always been shy about the things that actually matter.

  • Shy about starting projects I wasn't sure I'd nail.
  • Shy about taking risks that might fail publicly.
  • Shy about building something real, not just digital.

This brand is named after that feeling the one right before you take the leap.

The moment when everything in you says don't, but you do it anyway.

Shy is your reminder: Be scared. Do it anyway.

The Creation

I spent months learning about perfumery.

  • Talking to perfumers.
  • Studying ingredients.
  • Testing sample after sample after sample.

I wanted a fragrance that felt elegant without feeling intimidating.

The kind of scent that makes you stand a little taller before a lunch meeting, a photoshoot or an important day.

Refined, feminine, and effortlessly confident.

The fragrance that feels like you've already become the woman you're working toward.

When I finally held the finished bottles, I cried. Not because they were perfect, but because I actually did it.

The Moments Of Doubt

The night before launch, I sat on my bedroom floor at 3 AM, staring at boxes of perfume, thinking: What have I done?

A Voice inside of my head said:
Go for it Shaina. I'm proud of you for trying.

Not for succeeding. For trying.

That's what Shy is really about.

  • Not perfection.
  • Not having all the answers.

Just taking the leap.

The Whole Point

I don't know where this goes.

Maybe Shy becomes something big.
Maybe it stays small and special.
Maybe we expand it to more products.

But I do know this: I created something I'm proud of.

And if these fragrances make even one person feel a little more confident, a little more like themselves?

Then every late night, every doubt, every moment of fear was worth it.
